EXCAVATION
Excavation is often required in order to push basement walls straight, replace foundation sections, and for waterproofing the exterior of a foundation wall. When a foundation wall is excavate, it can make drastic changes to the landscape surrounding the house. Trees, shrubs, grass, and flowers may all be affected. The customer can remove these items prior to the start of the job if he or she wishes to preserve them.

AJUCL can excavate wet or frozen soil, but we will be very limited on how well we can restore your yard when backfilling. It is strongly enchouraged that customer's wait for optimal weather conditions for excavation.
Below is a common example of an excavation jobsite. The soil was excavated and relocated to the back yard. Next, the foundation was cleaned and coated, new drain tile was installed, washed rock placed over the drain tile, and then we started the backfilling process. Once the dirt was backfilled, we began to level the soil, grade it to divert water from the foundation, and rototill the yard to allow for a beautiful finish.
EXCAVATED BACKFILLED
SOIL GRADING
After a jobsite is complete, the excavated soil will be backfilled and graded to the best of our ability. If the soil is dry enough and conditions allow, we can rototill the soil to a fine pulverized finish. This allows for smooth grading with no large chunks or debris in the yard. The customer can easily move this pulverized soil around once settling begins. These extra steps during the backfilling process do not cost the customer extra and are completely dependent upon the soil conditions at the time of backfilling.
It is to be expected that excavated soil will take time to compact. This is especially true when we are not able to compact the soil with our heavy equipment due to space constrants on the jobsite. It is the customer's responsibilty to maintain a positive soil grade so as to allow rain and gutter water to run away from the foundation. We will always do our best to help the customer in this process by carefully grading the backfilled soil. Maintence of the soil grading typcially last about a year.
